What happens with your notification?
Notifications are important for our Inspectorate of Education to control the compliance with laws and regulations. They help us form a better picture of schools and the education system. Whether or not we take action, depends on the situation and nature of your notification. All notifications that we receive are added to the school’s file. They are stored and used for subsequent inspections and reviews. The team may also discuss your notification with the school governing board. For very serious complaints, we may conduct a specific inspection. Notifying us is always useful, even if we do not immediately act upon a notification.
Inspectorate does not deal with complaints
The Inspectorate of Education does not resolve individual problems experienced by parents, pupils, or teachers. Complaints can be directed to the school management, governing board, or complaints’ committee. We can, however, assist you by informing you ways to solve your problems, answering your questions, and giving you practical advice.
For more information, visit our webpage Complaints about schools and other educational institutions.
If you have complaints or worries about safety in school, you can call our Confidential Inspectors. They are specialized in: psychological and physical violence (including bullying), sexual harassment and sexual abuse, discrimination and radicalization in schools, educational institutions and childcare. For more information visit our web page Confidential inspectors.
Is your concern, for instance, about the lack of supervision in the schoolyard, open school fence, or ventilation in a classroom? Then you can contact the inspectorate’s customer contact team.
